What This Blog Was

May 11, 2020

Much to my surprise, the last time I posted to this blog was 10 years ago. To the day (to the minute thanks to scheduling!) Hard to believe so much time has gone by. Seems like a blink.

So often, I’ve found something on a blog, went to the top of the blog to see the latest post and at some point in the past the blog just… stopped. No announcement, no fanfare. It just stopped.

That always seemed kind of lonesome to me, so here’s a “What This Blog Was” post.

It was kind of a theater journal, kind of a collection of the things that interested me, kind of a chronicle of my time in Virginia. It was fun to do, kept me connected to family and friends and now for me serves as a neat memory. Lots of the links and videos are gone of course, but the words are there.

There is a vague chance I may start this blog again. I’ve just started recording an audiobook, and would very much like to continue down that path. If I do, I might post about that here. We’ll see. If this post remains on top, I didn’t start the blog again!

Anyway, that’s it. Happy 10th anniversary.

The Mini Released Nationally

May 11, 2010

Poking my head into the blog after months of absence.  Still no internet at the house, so I do what I can.

Just wanted to note that the movie I was in, The Mini directed by Ron Beck, has been released nationwide today.  Huzzah!

We’re quite proud of this little film, and thrilled that it will see the light of day.

Website Update

October 28, 2009

I’m still here and still alive, but being offline at home has changed my e-life significantly.

Despite that, my acting website got an overhaul thanks to my big brother who just felt like playing around with it.  Thanks bro.

He’s also done a few sites for his automotive businesses and interests.  Have a gander at www.inetautomotive.com.

To The Nines

September 9, 2009

I have no internet at home right now so my blogging time is limited. Not sure when I’ll be up and running again.

But I had to recognize today being 09/09/09. Nine is my lucky number. Lottery ticket anyone?

Doug Wilder – Speed Reader

July 14, 2009

This is old news, but I just found out about it.  A guy I know made a big splash in Congress a few months ago:

Rachel Maddow Interviews The Congressional “Speed Reader”

Doug and I worked together at Wayside Theatre in Virginia, and now he is working in the DC area.  I just did a show with Matt Eisenberg, who Doug refers to in the interview.  That’s how I found out about it.

Wild.  And Wilder.

DrekFest 3 at Stage Left Theatre

July 11, 2009

DrekFest at Stage Left Theatre Chicago

My old theater company back in Chicago, Stage Left Theatre, is hosting DrekFest 3, their 3rd annual search for the worst short play in America.

The first contest of its kind (as far as we know!), DrekFest is on a mission to expose bad writing for what it really is: damn funny. DrekFest is also on a mission to expose the new-play development process for what it sometimes can be: pretty damn ridiculous.

We are not out to make fun of writers or those who love them! What we are doing is asking good writers to intentionally write awful plays that make us laugh on the inside (especially if that’s noted in the stage directions) — and out loud.

Looks like they are well on their way.  The finalists this year…

Friday Dance Party 31 – Summer Dance

July 10, 2009

Another week.  Another Friday.  Another reason to dance!  Today’s Dance Party is pretty much how all of my boat parties turn out.

You Tube – Summer Dance

The artist is Lee Jung Hyun from Korea, but she also goes by Ava.

You don’t suppose she’s using this video to launch the cyber attacks, do you?

Friday Dance Party 30 – Dance 4 Life

July 3, 2009

Hoo boy, we made it to Friday.  Stand up.  Dance.

YouTube – Tiesto – Dance 4 Life (Live at TMF Awards 2006 Amsterdam

Until the last minute, I thought it would be a Michael Jackson Moonwalk.  Instead I wanted to remember the lives that have been, and celebrate the time that we get.

So get dancing, yo.

Mollie Sugden

July 2, 2009

We have lost so many people from show-business this week.  Michael Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Karl Malden.

I just got word that another actress passed yesterday, July 1st, 2009 – one who may be a bit more famous in England.

Mollie Sugden (1922-2009)

Mollie Sugden (1922-2009)

Mollie Sugden became famous for her portrayal of Mrs. Slocombe in the 70’s Brit-com Are You Being Served.

I have to say I didn’t care for the show at first, but eventually it grew on me.  The characters were so well played, especially in the earlier seasons, that you really cared about them.

More importantly, the show will always have a special place in my heart since it was one of my Mom’s favorites.

Loving Hating Hamlet

June 30, 2009

Oy.  It’s been hard to get the blog going again after taking some time off.  But here goes.

We are opening I Hate Hamlet tonight at Totem Pole Playhouse.  This is a delightful comedy.  A young TV actor’s series has been cancelled.  He’s given a chance to play Hamlet.  He rents the apartment that used to be occupied by the legendary actor John Barrymore.  After being “summoned”, the ghost of John Barrymore returns to coach the young actor to do this difficult role.

This show has been great fun as well as a huge challenge.  My character is a hyped up LA type who is trying to lure the young actor back to Hollywood.  I haven’t played a character like this for awhile and am having a difficult time finding his voice.  Maybe I should find that before we open.  Ya think?

Very excited to get this up and running.
