A Christmas Carol – Rehearsals Begin

We just started rehearsals for A Christmas Carol at Wayside Theatre.

I’ve been involved in quite a few holiday shows, but this is the first time I’ve ever done Christmas Carol.  It may be an old Dickens tale, but this production is a new musical version adapted by Wayside’s own Warner Crocker and Steve Przybylski.  They did a version of this about 5 years ago, but they are revising it for this new production.

Rehearsing works that are in progress is challenging, but it is one of my favorite things to do.

It gets most challenging when the changes become more surgical late in the process.  A changed word, a cut line, a tweaked melody.  You sometimes have to pause for a moment and sort out in your head which version you’re doing.

Kind of exciting to get this started.  New play, lots of kids, lots of energy.  Looking forward to digging in.
